Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Released by kingpin gum and trading card company Topps during decades that saw the New York based teams (Yankees, Giants, Dodgers and Mets) win a total of eleven (11) World Series championships, owning Major League Baseball, NYC teams would be on the losing end of the "Fall Classic" a total of ten (10) times in the 1950s and 1960s, more often than not playing a crosstown rival in a commonly seen subway series. Offered here, we present this collection of over 550 Topps baseball cards from various years of the 1950s and 1960s. Including representation from 1959 Topps (x124 - notables; Orlando Cepeda, Nellie Fox and Whitey Herzog), 1960 Topps (x141 - notables; Mudcat Grant x2 and Nellie Fox x2), 1961 Topps (x125 - notables; Bob Gibson, NL Batting Leaders x2, Ron Santo, Billy Martin, AL Batting Leaders and Curt Flood), 1962 Topps (x67 - Bill Mazeroski AS and Nellie Fox), 1963 Topps (x44 - all commons) and 1964 Topps (x60 - Tommy John RC, Billy Williams, Ed Mathews, Felipe Alou, Elston Howard, Jim Gant and Hank Bauer) Plus 1959 Bowman (x32 - all commons) & 1960/61 Fleer (x13 - all commons), the included cards are mostly in a lower grade condition state and are a mix of FR (fair), G (good) and VG (very good) specimens with nothing much better than that. Additionally, there is a good amount of duplicates throughout, some having more than two examples that is worth mentioning for accuracy.
