Originally sold through retailers from a huge barrel during the 19th century, corn syrup was later bottled just after the turn of the century, with Crown Brand one of the most popular variety's throughout the 20th century. This lot contains Crown Brand items highlighted by a rare advertising sign, 1935 pin and 1936 certificate, along with some other interesting items. First, the sign is two-sided, designed to sit on a counter top and appear to be a box, with a 3-d affect, with full colour cans pictured on each side. Measuring approx 17" x 20", two staples hold the sign together on one side, with a partial split to the opposite side. Aside from a few small creases and edge tears, the sign remains in very good condition with vibrant colours. Next, the 1935 pin shows a Crown Brand logo with "Member of the Sports Club" along with a serial number, with the front blemish free and a few small rust marks to the reverse. The Sports Club certificate is 3 1/2" x 6", with a few creases, a pinhole and blemish. The lot also contains two 1940s St Lawrence Starch cover letters regarding Bee Hive hockey pictures, a Bee Hive hockey note from 1939-40, two different St Lawrence Starch letter regarding the discontinuation of Bee Hive hockey pictures, a mini "How to Play Hockey" booklet, six vintage labels (one is a partial label), three matching 1936 "Souvenirs of the Hockey Season" booklets, two small French language recipe booklets, two original 1940s mailing envelopes (moderate wear), six matching Aeroplane pictures checklists, and two other Aeroplane flyers. Most of the items show light wear unless otherwise noted.
