Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, Howe's 1964-65 Topps "Tall Boys" card is the subject of this lot, sporting a headshot image of the man affectionately known as "Mr. Hockey" over the front in an oversized format. Having just returned from inspection and encapsulation at PSA, where the card has earned the company's mark of EX-MT 6 for its effort, the battle scared image Howe that is present over the front displays slightly off-center from left-to-right and retains sharp corners and smooth edges. Also showing clean surfaces and excellent colours, the PSA holder that houses the card is in beautiful condition with no flaws to report.
