Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Famous as the minor league club where Jackie Robinson got his start before ascending to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, we offer a collection of Montreal Royals programs and memorabilia ranging from the 1930s to 1950s. Included, we have Royals programs from the early-1930s (scorecard and two programs), 1949 (Babe Ruth on cover), late-1950s (2), and the gem, a 1946 Royals program with Jackie Robinson listed in the line-up. The Robinson program is scored in pencil, and remains in excellent condition, with just some rusting to the staples. The additional six programs show some wear, with the two late-1950s and 1949 program scored. Additional items include a 1935 How to Play Baseball booklet from Canada Starch with a photo of the 1935 Royals, a 1937 Crown Brand Royals team photo 6 1/2" x 10 1/2" (tear repaired with tape) and two matching circa late-1940s Royals player photos of Al Gionfriddo, with each appearing to be signed on the reverse.
