Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Following up the success of their 1962 release a year earlier with another one for the 1963 Canadian Football League season, the 1963 set featured a checklist of 160 cards in total as well as numbered checklists that were cut by youngers from the back of cereal boxes in Canada. Also able to be obtained from an order-by-number offer during 1963 from Post's Canadian affiliate, offered here is this complete assembly of the 1963 Post CFL football release. Including the variation cards of #'s 3, 6, 80, 112, 117 and 154 while being absent of the ones for #'s 13, 25, 30, 32, 38, 49, 50, 60, 63, 82, 97 and 119, the group is seen as being in the overall consistent grade range of VG throughout as many of the cards making up the set have small amounts of glue residue over their reverses. Additionally, around ten (10) cards have major glue marks/stains over their reverses or paper residue. Finally, some of the cards sport a crease or were originally poorly cut. For the key cards making up the set, those worth pointing out include the likes of 25-Jackson (VG to VG-EX - glue marks on the reverse in one corner), 38-Parker (VG to VG-EX - glue marks on the reverse), 50-Shatto (VG to VG-EX - glue marks on the reverse), 59-Faloney (FR to G - back damage), 64-Patterson (EX to EX-MT - slightly off-center when it was cut out), 69-Mosca (GOOD - large glue spots on the reverse and paper residue), 80-Lewis (x2 - one around G to VG with glue spots and paper residue on the reverse and the other around VG to VG-EX with glue on one side of the reverse), 128-Getty (VG-EX to EX - slight glue residue one one corner of the reverse), 135-Coffey (GOOD - crease) and 154-Kapp (x2 - one around GOOD condition with a crease and glue on one side of the reverse and the other around G to VG with a light crease and glue on one side of the reverse). A classic assembly of gridiron stars that played in that era of the CFL, don't miss out on this set for your all important vintage collection!
