A complete set of the very first hockey cards, available to consumers in packages of cigarettes well over 100 years ago and offered to serious collectors here constitutes a hobby happening, with several of the men responsible for making early professional hockey a happening featured amid the three dozen well-preserved darlings. Having all been encapsulated for preservation and display by PSA and having been recently received back from grading except for the examples of 2-LeSueur and 9-Campbell, all the cards making up the checklist are designated as rookie cards, with the first group of six (6) PSA slabs housing the cards of some of the most prominent hockey forefathers to be featured on the small cardboard specimens including the likes of #1 Frank Patrick (PSA VG 3), #8 Art Ross (PSA VG+ 3.5), #12 Art Ross (PSA VG 3), #15 Fred Taylor (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), #26 Lester Patrick (PSA VG 3) and #36 Newsy Lalonde (PSA GOOD 2 - "MC" miscut qualifier). Also sporting a second group that includes over century old cardboard of #2 Percy Lesueur (PSA VG 3), #3 Gordon Roberts (PSA GOOD 2), #7 Marty Walsh (PSA VG-EX 4), #10 Harry Hyland (PSA GOOD 2), #14 Tom Dunderdale (PSA GOOD 2) and #33 Jack Marshall (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), the rest of the set includes cards of #16 Joseph Cattarinich (PSA VG-EX 4), #17 Bruce Stuart (PSA VG-EX 4), #32 Harold McNamara (PSA VG-EX 4), #35 Jack Marshall (PSA VG-EX 4), #25 Art Bernier (PSA VG+ 3.5), #23 Didier Pitre (PSA VG 3), #29 C. Toms (PSA VG 3), #6 Edgar Dey (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), #13 Ed Decary (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), #27 Fred Lake (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), #31 Horace Gaul (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), #34 Bruce Ridpath (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), #5 Pud Glass (PSA GOOD 2), #11 Herb Clark (PSA GOOD 2), #18 Nick Bawlf (PSA GOOD 2), #20 Ernest Russell (PSA GOOD 2), #21 Jack Laviolette (PSA GOOD 2), #24 Skinner Poulin (PSA GOOD 2), #28 Paddy Moran (PSA GOOD 2), #30 Ernest Johnston (PSA GOOD 2), #9 Angus Campbell (PSA GOOD 2 - "MK" qualifier), #4 Barney Holden (PSA FR 1.5), #19 Jim Jones (PSA FR 1.5) and #22 Riley Hern (PSA FR 1.5). A true treasure to behold that is worthy of serious consideration, all the PSA holders remain in excellent condition with no obvious flaws to make mention of.
