Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A product of the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Blazers who was drafted 194th overall by the Dallas Stars at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Dylan Ferguson would be traded two (2) days later to the newly minted Vegas Golden Knights and would start the franchise's first ever pre-season contest, a 9-4 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. A Kelly Cup (ECHL) champion in 2021 with the Fort Wayne Komets who has enjoyed NHL time with both Vegas and the Ottawa Senators and is now skating overseas with the KHL's Dinamo Minsk, offered here is this mask worn by Ferguson as a member of the Ottawa Senators organization in 2022-23 that has been photo-matched to his first National Hockey League start and victory! Sporting an attractive Senators design in the team's red and white colours, Ottawa's primary logo appears over the forehead and top of the mask while a cluster of alternate logos grace each side over the cheeks. Displaying Ferguson's nickname "Fergy" in a script pattern over a scroll that is draped over the chin area, a plastic throat guard is tied to the mask via skate lace. Of note, the mask was also worn by Dylan during his time in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization as well and was redecorated with a vinyl wrap once he moved on to Ottawa. Evidence of the former Toronto paint job that still resides underneath can be seen in spots around the edges and ventilation holes. Featuring a shell made by Dominic Malerba, he has signed on the inside at the back right edge with a gold ink signature and has dated the mask with a "22" in matching ink. Displaying light-to-moderate use with a few puck and scuff marks observed throughout and some wrinkling of the vinyl wrap above the left eyebrow and at 10 plus 3 o'clock on the backplate, which shows a lion plus a bible quote, all the padding is present on the interior except for the sweatband and there are a couple of small nicks around the edges of the shell. Finally, the mask comes housed in a Vaughn branded bag that shows light wear from use and transportation but remains in good condition.
Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, the mask is matched with Getty Image #1248918975 (March 20th, 2023 vs Pittsburgh) to the puck marks in the white strap near Ferguson's right temple as well as to the small portion of the Toronto design that is visible on the right edge of the backplate
