One of the most significant names in American college hockey, Tim Taylor is remembered annually by the awarding of the "Tim Taylor Award" given out annually to the NCAA Division I player judged to be the most outstanding freshman of the year. Also the namesake of the ECAC award that is presented annually to the best coach in the conference as voted by the coaches of each ECAC team, Taylor would play his college hockey with the Harvard University Crimson, leading Harvard to its first ECAC regular season and conference tournament championships in 1963. Playing with the United States National Team during the 1964-65 season, including at the 1965 World Championships in Finland, before going on to a long coaching career with schools like Harvard, Yale and Team USA, offered here is this jersey worn by Taylor at the 1965 IIHF World Hockey Championships. A patriotic red, white and blue offering of a lightweight durene knit by Gerry Cosby, a partially detached size "48" label is affixed inside the lower reverse along with a year tag reading "'64". Decorated over the front of the classic tie-neck collar garment with "USA" in layered tackle twill across the chest in individually applied layered tackle twill letters, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Taylor's number "2" in numerals matching the "USA" moniker on the front. Displaying overall light game-wear through a couple of light stick marks over the left sleeve and lower reverse as well as heavy sweat staining at the ends of both cuffs, additional wear includes pilling/rubbing at both cuffs from Taylor's gloves and stains throughout the body and sleeves as well while some small holes/fabric runs are present over the front and lower reverse. Finally, light pilling is found on the interior along with some discolouration at both arm pits.
