Spending a single season with CSKA Moscow before making his NHL debut with Los Angeles in 1992-93, Alexei Zhitnik played over 1,000 games, mostly with Buffalo, with additional seasons skating for Philly, Atlanta and the New York Islanders. This photo-matched Islanders jersey was worn by the Russian star in 2006-07. Made by Reebok, a single size “56” flag tag is affixed to the inner collar. The front is decorated with a partially embroidered Islanders team crest while an alternate logo patch resides over the right shoulder. The sleeves and verso of the jersey have been accented with "77” in tri-layer tackle twill with “Zhitnik” spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Game-wear includes a few burn marks along with a long slit on the right sleeve, with a single team repair to each sleeve. Getty Image #72422604 (Oct 26, 2006) has been matched to the team repair within the orange striping band on the left sleeve, with the white extended thread at the bottom of the team crest also visible. A MeiGray tag numbered "D02860" is sewn inside the reverse hem, and according to the company's population report, the jersey is a "Navy Set 1" specimen. A MeiGray/Islanders LOA will accompany.
