This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A veteran of 423 National Hockey League games and the last former Minnesota North Star active in professional hockey, Mike Craig would win a Memorial Cup with the Oshawa Generals in 1990 alongside Eric Lindros as well as back-to-back IIHF World Junior Championship gold medals with Canada in 1990 and 1991. Drafted 28th overall by the North Stars at the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, Craig would also play 172 games as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs and would wear this “1931 Heritage” jersey during Toronto's November 2nd, 1996 contest versus the Detroit Red Wings. Made by CCM, both size “54” and “Made in Canada” tags are affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo and NHL shield have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Having been decorated over the front of the jersey with a 1931 style Maple Leafs team crest that has “Toronto Maple Leafs” embroidered into it, Craig's’ number “32” is sewn to the verso in oversized single layer white twill numerals with no nameplate over the upper reverse to make note of. Done as a heritage jersey throwback for the 65th anniversary of Maple Leaf Gardens, the jersey, based off the ones the Leafs wore during the first season of play at “The Grand Ole’ Lady on Carlton Street” in 1931, shows good game-wear via numerous stick marks throughout the front, reverse and both sleeves, a red coloured board paint transfer is observed over the right elbow while a couple of spot stains are seen over the left sleeve as well. Showcasing a team patch sewn inside the reverse hem that denotes the jersey as a “1 of 2 1996-1997 Game Worn Heritage Jersey” offering, the second set was worn on February 22nd, 1997 vs Montreal.
