One of the truly great stories that make up the rich history of the game, Ray Bourque devoted 21 seasons to the Boston Bruins, and despite leading a number of talented clubs, the Beantowners were never able to grasp a championship during his tenure. With the desire to hoist Lord Stanley’s grail before his career ended, Ray played his final season and a half with Colorado, and was able to realize his dream, becoming a Stanley Cup champion during the final game of his HOF career. Offered here, we present this Colorado Avalanche jersey worn by Bourque during the 2000-01 season. Made by Koho, a "Made in Canada" label that has had a size "58" fly tag added to the bottom of it has been affixed to the inner collar while a Koho logo patch has been placed over the reverse neckline. Having had the NHL shield embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey has been decorated with a familiar Avalanche team crest that features textured and embroidered details throughout while the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been added over the left breast. Sporting matching alternate logo patches over both shoulders and the 2001 NHL All-Star Game event patch, hosted by Colorado, over the right breast, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Bourque's number "77" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Bourque" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters that have been placed across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse in a gentle arch. Having had the sleeves taken in and shortened to Ray's liking while also showing evidence of numerous washings inside the fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows good wear with board burns over both sleeves, heaviest on the left arm, and a couple of stick marks over the lower reverse. Also showing a couple of small spot stains throughout, we should note that Bourque wore multiple jerseys within any given game or set, and has been known to gift game jerseys to people, including staff.
