Originally drafted 6th overall by the Buffalo Sabres at the 1982 NHL Entry Draft out of South St. Paul Secondary School in South St. Paul, Minnesota, Phil Housley would go on to play a total of 1495 games in his National Hockey League career with eight (8) different franchises. The second leading scorer amongst American-born players with 1,232 points, bested only by Mike Modano, Housley was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2015. Representing the red, white and blue of the United States internationally on numerous occasions, winning silver at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, offered here is this Team USA jersey worn by Housley at the 2003 IIHF World Championships. Made by Nike, a brand/size "56" label is affixed to the inner collar atop of additional sewn in "IIHF Authentic Collection" and "Made in Canada" labels and a heat screened USA Hockey logo. Accented over the reverse neckline and right breast with sewn on Nike swoosh logos while an IIHF crest is in place over the reverse hem, the front of the jersey sports a Team USA crest in layered tackle twill and a distinguished alternate captain's "A" over the left breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Housley's number "6" in dual layer tackle twill numerals, matching Bauhaus sponsorship patches have been added over both sleeves as well while Housley is spelt out in single layer white twill letters that have been heat pressed on across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Signed by Housley over the reverse number "6" with a silver marker ink signature that displays without issue, the jersey, featuring a Nike Team Sports barcode heat pressed inside the reverse hem and its original fight strap, shows just very light game wear via some sweat staining over the left cuff and stick marks over the bottom of the right cuff.
