A member of the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame, with his 28 Olympic games-played a record among Russian national team players, Darius Kasparaitis enjoyed an especially lengthy NHL career, with numerous seasons spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders while also enjoying stints with the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers as well. A three-time Olympic medalist and a veteran of 863 National Hockey League games, offered here from the beginning of Kasparaitis' international career is this silver medal presented to him for his efforts as part of the Soviet Union National Team at the 1990 IIHF European Junior Championships when he posted seven points (7) in six (6) games played and was named to the tournament's all-star team. Measuring 2 3/4" in circumference and void of its original ribbon, "European Championships" appears in raised letters circling the perimeter on the obverse along with two generic players in action with the word "Junior" between them. Featuring a painted globe IIHF logo on the reverse that is encompassed by "International Ice Hockey Federation" in matching style raised letters, the medal displays with some light-to-moderate wear over both sides that is worth mentioning for accuracy. Hailing from Kasparaitis' personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany the piece.
