Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
From the Parkhurst company's landmark and inaugural hockey card issue of 1951-52 that started the modern era, we have a rarely seen wrapper box that one housed cards that could have included the first-year cardboard of players like Howe, Richard and Sawchuk. The purple variation, an image of Leafs captain Teeder Kennedy is seen on the top along with the original 5 cent purchase price and all six “Original Six” cities. At approx. 2 3/4" x 2" in size and standing just over a quarter inch in height, the wrapper/box remains in overall excellent condition throughout with just some light wear worth noting to the images gracing the surface as well as the edges and corners while some creasing is present as well. Also sporting the handwritten name of "George Wicke" on the inside of the wrapper in blue fountain ink, the a small amount of light staining is observed over the top portion of the reverse side as well. Still presenting beautifully, don't miss out on this seldom seen gem for your all-important set and/or vintage collection.
