Featuring an attractive design (at least in this writer’s eyes) as well as the names of players who had once dominated the era of the Original Six and some of those that would become the star power of the upcoming decade, O-Pee-Chee’s 1969-70 assembly continues to be popular in the hobby and is found here in near-complete form with 208 of the 231 cards found within the checklist. Missing a total of thirty-two (32) cards for completion, including #'s 9, 17, 23, 31-checklist, 38, 46, 55, 59, 62-F. Mahovlich, 68, 75, 84, 85, 88-Favell rookie, 92, 106, 107, 109, 120, 207-Hall/Plante, 214-P.Esposito AS, 215-Howe AS and cards 222 to 231, the group of cards that are present and accounted for are found to be in the overall condition range of EX to EX-MT throughout with five (5) or six (6) cards presenting in a low-grade state. With the likes of 20-Berenson, 27-Hodge, 33-Giacomin, 42-Ratelle, 54-Ullman, 82-Vadnais, 86-Hampson, 98-Lacroix, 99-Desjardins, 108-Joyal and 110-Binkley all having had stamps applied to their reverses, the group of key cards are led by EX-MT to NM cards of 61-Howe (stamp on reverse), 7-Hull (stamp on reverse), 138-T. Esposito RC and 189-Sawchuk (80-20 centering top-to-bottom) while EX to EX-MT cards include 24-Orr, 76-Mikita (stamp on reverse - very light crease only seen on the back at the bottom left), 89-Parent (very small dings at top left and left border - stamp on reverse), 182-Horton (slight corner wear) and 209-Orr Norris Torphy (tiny ding to left border). Also including EX cards of 4-Savard RC (top left corner ding) and 30-P. Esposito (stamp on reverse - small "oil" stain at top right), the key cards are rounded out by VG-EX to EX examples of 1-Worsley (small scratch and light corner wear), 12-Hall (top border ding), 18-Plante (off-center and slight corner wear), 193-Howe Mr. Hockey (tiny wrinkle at top border - off-center) and 212-Orr AS (tiny wrinkle at top border) while card #132, the checklist, is around VG-EX and is unmarked but shows light creases on the reverse and card #10 of Jean Beliveau is in the vicinity of G to VG with corner wear and surface stains.
