Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Allowing third period goals by Americans Mark Johnson and Mike Eruzione, which facilitated the Miracle On Ice in 1980, Soviet netminder Vladimir Myshkin guarded the crease of the famous Dynamo Moscow club throughout the 1980s. Representing his nation at the IIHF World Championships, we offer medals originally from his personal collection, including the bronze medal from 1985, and his silver medal from 1990. With each medal at 2 ¾” in diameter, two generic hockey players battle on the obverse of each, encompassed by "World Championships" in raised letters, while the reverses includes a globe over two crossed hockey sticks, with "International Ice Hockey Federation" encircling the perimeters. The year for each medal appears in raised letters to each ribbon loop mounted above, with each medal retaining the original blue and gold ribbon. The pair remain in gorgeous condition, and are ideal for display (there is a bit of staining to the ribbon of the 1985 medal, and a few small marks and wear to the reverse of the loop on the 1990 medal).
