Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Still recognized as arguably the greatest upset in sporting history despite the 40-year vintage, the US men’s Olympic hockey team shocked both the Soviets and the world at large with their epic victory over the powerhouse Russians at the 1980 Winter Olympics, forever remembered as the “Miracle on Ice”. Captured by photographer Bill Greene, this framed team-signed 16” x 20” print of the immediate moment after the final buzzer is the main item offered here along with a framed official 1980 Lake Placid Olympics poster. The celebration picture has been signed by 20 members of the iconic team including Jim Craig, Mike Eruzione, Ken Morrow, Neal Broten, Mike Ramsey, Mark Johnson, Phil Verchota, Mark Wells, Steve Christoff, Dave Christian and others with the autographs displaying with some fading from age but all are still easily legible. Double matted under white and black and framed to full dimensions of approximately 21" x 25", the photo is housed in a simple black coloured frame that shows just some light wear to the edges and corners that is worth noting for accuracy. Having had a Grandstand Sports hologram affixed at the bottom left hand corner, it is worth pointing out that the image has slid down in the frame and that the signatures along the bottom are either completely or partially covered.
Of note, While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occur during shipping.
