A member of the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame, with his 28 Olympic games-played a record among Russian national team players, Darius Kasparaitis enjoyed an especially lengthy NHL career, with numerous seasons spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders while also enjoying stints with the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers as well. A three-time Olympic medalist and a veteran of 863 National Hockey League game, offered here is this Colorado Avalanche third jersey worn by Kasparaitis during his short stint with the club during the 2001-02 campaign. Made by Koho and sporting a lone size "52" label affixed to the inner collar of the classic tie-neck style garment, a Koho logo patch has been added over the reverse neckline while the NHL shield has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with “Colorado” going diagonally down the chest in tri-layer tackle twill numerals, matching primary logo patches are found resting on top of each shoulder. Having been accented over the sleeves and verso with Kasparaitis' number “11” in matching tri-layer tackle twill numerals, “Kasparaitis” is spelt out in single layer white twill letters arched across the affixed matching nameplate. Still featuring its original fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows wear in the form of a board burn and small unrepaired hole over the area of the left elbow, a pair of small pinholes on the inside of the right sleeve and a small light stick mark near the right elbow. Also showing some light stick marks over the lower front, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #561213 (April 14th, 2002 vs Dallas) to the small unrepaired hole near the left elbow. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Kasparaitis will accompany the piece.
Of note, the jersey also shows evidence of having been worn and washed on numerous occasions that are not consistent with other jerseys of this limited number of games that we have handled. There is puckering to the numbers on both the sleeves and verso as well as behind the nameplate and there is damage to the "11" on the reverse that includes tears and popped seams.
