Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Renowned for not just his masterful skills within the crease, Ken Dryden is also well remembered for the iconic masks he wore throughout his legendary Hall of Fame career with the Montreal Canadiens, including his white pretzel mask first worn with Cornell, followed by his famous red, white and blue “target” or “bullseye” mask. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983 despite seeing action in parts of a mere eight seasons, Dryden would help Montreal to six (6) Stanley Cup championships, while also having earned the Calder Memorial, Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophies as well. Offered here, we present this replica of Dryden's famous red, white and blue "target"/"bullseye" mask. A stunning rendition with excellent eye appeal, the mask, void of any makers marks or identification, measures roughly 12" long from the top of the head to the chin while spanning approximately 8" from ear-to-ear. Displaying the famous rings over the exterior in Montreal's familiar colours and featuring a plastic snap strapping harness with backplate, the aforementioned backplate includes a thin layer of foam padding in the interior while nothing similar has been added to the interior of the mask itself. In good condition overall, a few marks, scuffs and small abrasions are present throughout and worthy of mention for accuracy.
