Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Playing a total of 1269 National Hockey League games over the course of his 19-year National Hockey League career, Brett Hull would pot a total of 741 goals over that time, the fifth (5th) most in the history of the league and win a pair of Stanley Cups as well as numerous other awards and trophies. An elite scorer at all levels of the game who is nicknamed "the Golden Brett" in a reference to his father's nickname of "the Golden Jet", the younger Hull would be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009. Offered here, we present this stick used by Hull as a member of the St. Louis Blues during the lockout shortened 1994-95 NHL season in which Hull potted 29 goals and posted 50 points in 48 games played. A Louisville Graphite model twig that is void of any identifiers, the stick retains its original white tape job over the handle/knob that has had Hull's number "16" penned to it in black marker ink. Having had a wooden Christian Puckmaster blade inserted into the bottom of the shaft that has had Hull's number "16" stamped in black over the stem, most of the original black blade tape has been removed to facilitate Hull's flowing black signature over the forehand side which displays without issue. Exhibiting overall good game-use, a layer of now dried gripping agent is found over the shaft while a handful of dark marks and abrasions are present throughout as well over the shaft and inserted blade. Additionally, there are small tears over both sides of the remaining blade tape as well as along the bottom edge. Originally obtained by a longtime employee of the Detroit Red Wings, an LOA will accompany.
