After a season without hockey cards, kids and others must have been excited/smiling when they first saw Parkhurst packs in stores in 1957, with the Canadiens and Maple Leafs featured and Maurice Richard appearing on wax pack display boxes. Offered here in complete set from with all fifty (50) cards that make up the checklist present and accounted for, adding to their appeal is the fact that all the cards have been graded with thirty-three (33) have earned marks of EX or better. Sporting a mix of PSA (x40), CSG (x7), KSA (x1) and ACA (x1) slabs, the set is spearheaded by the examples of those such as Jacques Plante (PSA VG-EX 4), Ed Chadwick RC (PSA VG-EX 4), Jean Beliveau (PSA GOOD 2), Henri Richard (PSA VG 3), Charlie Hodge (PSA NM 7), Tim Horton (PSA EX 5), Maurice Richard (CSG Very Good 3), Doug Harvey (PSA VG-EX 4), George Armstrong (PSA EX 5), Frank Mahovlich RC (KSA VG 3) and Bob Baun RC (PSA VG-EX 4). For the rest of the set, the group is led by a PSA NM 7.5 example of Gary Aldcorn's rookie card while the cardboard picturing Marc Reaume is found as the only NM 7 offering, having been inspected and graded by PSA as well. For EX-NM+ 6.5 examples, two cards are present, those of cards #22 Brian Cullen scores and #23 Puck and sticks high, both in CSG holders while a CSG EX-MT 6 of Bernie Geoffrion is also included as well. Featuring other EX-MT 6's of 9-Talbot, 24-Geoffrion Sidesteps Chadwick, 6-Migay, 9-Cullen, 11-Morrison, 13-Bolton, 14-Conacher, 15-Harris, 18-Girard RC, 21-Cullen RC, 23-Collins RC and 25-Reay, all of which are in PSA slabs, a trio of PSA examined EX+ 5.5's includes 12-Provost RC, 19-Olmstead and 8-James RC. for the rest of the set, included are PSA EX 5's of 7-Pronovost RC, 8-Marshall, 10-St. Laurent, 14-Moore, 16-Blake, 18-Bonin, 5-Sloan, 16-Nykoluk RC and 19-MacNeil RC, an SGC EX 5 is also included for the card of #3 Dick Duff while the pair of PSA VG-EX+ 4.5's feature the likes of 6-Johnson and 13-Turner. Finishing out the set with PSA VG-EX 4's of 7-Stewart and 10-Smith and a lone CSG Very Good 3.5+ of #25 Olmstead Beats Chadwick, the remaining four (4) cards include CSG Very Good 3's of 11-Goyette and 21-Canadiens On Guard, a PSA VG 3 of #20 Floyd Curry and finally, an ACA GOOD+ 2.5 of Bob Pulford's rookie card.
With all the holders in generally good condition except for some light scratches and scuffs that are worth pointing out for accuracy, It must be noted that the grading standards followed by CSG, ACA and KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
