The 1st overall pick of the 1977 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, Dale McCourt would go on to a National Hockey League career that would see him suit up in 532 games for the likes of the Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs. Also representing his home nation of Canada on a trio of occasions at both the junior and senior levels of IIHF play and taking part in over 200 games as a member of HC Ambrì–Piotta to close out his career, offered here is this photo-matched Toronto Maple Leafs jersey worn by McCourt during his final NHL season of 1983-84. An Ultrafil knit construction garment made by Maska, a partially detached Maska label is affixed to the inner collar along with a washed out size tag that displays a size "52" designation. Having had the Maska logo embroidered into the reverse hem, though sporting a production defect, the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Maple Leafs team crest that has had "Toronto Maple Leafs" embroidered into it, matching alternate logo crests have been added over both shoulders. Accented over the right breast with the City of Toronto's 150th birthday celebration patch that was worn during the season, the sleeves and verso have had McCourt's number "12" sewn to them in either blue or white single layer twill numerals while "McCourt" is spelt out in matching style blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back. With the fight strap on the interior relocated to a higher position and customized by the team, it is also worth mentioning that this this set saw prolonged use from the Leafs and was employed for the 1984-85 preseason as evident by the outline of a formerly affixed nameplate (#12 was worn by Ken Strong during the 1984 pre-season and training camp), with the McCourt nameplate removed for the preseason, then later re-attached by the Leafs for the jersey to be sold (the 150th anniversary crest is original and has not been touched). Displaying just light game-wear via some board burns over both sleeves and light stick marks over the lower reverse, some light-to-moderate pilling is seen on the interior at both elbows as well. Regarding the aforementioned photo-matches, the jersey has been matched with Getty Image #1217065075 (January 23rd, 1984 vs Chicago) to the stitching defect of the Maska logo over the reverse hem.
