Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Loaded with Hall of Fame skaters, the Toronto Maple Leafs advanced to the Stanley Cup finals seven times during the 1930s. We offer a pair of desirable vintage framed photos of the Leafs during the golden age of the franchise. First, the 1931-32 photo is a team composite, measuring approx 12"x 14", set in a frame to full dimensions of 13 1/2" x 15 1/2". This photo is usually found with Vi-Tone advertising along the base and an easel reverse (we are not sure if the offered example has an easel). Next, the 1938-39 team photo is approx 10 1/2" x 14 1/2", framed to 12" x 17". The team is pictured lined-up on the boards, with text beneath. Issued by Molson, the faint outline of the Molson sticker that was originally affixed to the lower left can be easily seen. Both photos as well as the frames show wear, with heavy creasing to the 1931-32 photo.
