Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Perhaps the greatest player the game of hockey and the National Hockey League has ever seen, Mario Lemieux needs no introduction and during the 1980s and 1990s was the only one capable of holding a candle with the likes of Wayne Gretzky and his greatness. Having registered a total of 1.883 points per game throughout his illustrious career, "Super Mario" is the subject of this "Emblems of Endorsement" card that was released as part of Upper Deck's 2013-14 The Cup release. Featuring an image of the 1997 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee over the left side of the card with a serial number of "05/15" at the bottom right hand corner in gold foil, two (2) swatches of material cut from a Penguins jersey worn by Lemieux that show all three (3) colours of Pittsburgh's uniform have been embedded into the front of the card. Having been signed by Mario near the top of the card with a beautiful blue marker ink signature that displays without issue, the card presents in excellent condition with only light wear touches to the edges and corners, appearing heaviest at the top left point on the front. A prime offering of one of the best to grace the ice of the NHL, don't miss out on this high-end and seldomly seen offering for your all-important collection.
