Sure to pique the interest of someone looking to add some vintage to their collections at a price point that is sure to raise some eyebrows as well, offered here is this lot consisting of near-complete sets of O-Pee-Chee hockey card releases from 1975-76, 1977-78, 1978-79 and 1980-81 as well as complete 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee mini cards 12-album set and a complete 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee 24-booklet set. Starting with the complete offerings, the 1969-70 mini-cards/stamp albums set features the finished examples for all twelve (12) of the National Hockey Leagues teams at the time with all the stamps that have been affixed to the inside pages and back firmly affixed except for on the Rangers and Flyers albums, which both have a loose stamp that is worthy of mention for accuracy. All of the albums are seen as being in the approximate condition ranges of EX-MT for their efforts. Additionally, for the 1971-72 OPC Star Booklets, all are the French language variations and all 24 booklets are present and accounted for while appearing in the uniform condition range of EX-MT as well.
Moving on to the near-complete card sets, the oldest of the bunch is a 1975-76 assembly that features 391 of the 396 cards in the checklist while missing only those of 99-Checklist, 171-Checklist, 210-1974-75 Scoring Leaders, 258-Lemaire and 267-Checklist for completion. Found to be in the overall grade ranges of VG to VG-EX and VG-EX to EX with two (2) of the team checklist cards marked (#81-Boston and #93-Pittsburgh), the group includes the rookie cards of 199-Gillies (EX to EX-MT) and 396-Snepsts (VG-EX to EX) as well as stars such as 35-Dryden (FR to G - creases and corner wear), 100-Orr (EX to EX-MT - light corner wear), 126-Lafleur (FR to G - creased) and 140-Dionne (EX to EX-MT - small ding at top left corner).
For the 1977-78 release, this time sporting 373 of the 396 total cards in the set, out of the twenty-three (23) missing cards, notables include just the 216-Lafleur RB card while the group is found to be in the overall uniform grade ranges of G to VG up to VG to VG-EX. Including a G to VG example of Mike Milbury's rookie card that has corner wear and centering issues, other key's include 55-P. Esposito (VG to VG-EX - corner wear), 100-Dryden (GOOD - creased and corner wear), 105-Trotter (G to VG - corner wear), 200-Lafleur (GOOD - stained) and 251-Orr (FR to G - creased).
For the 1978-79 near-complete set, found to be in an overall lower condition grade range throughout, the assembly is missing approximately seventy-four (74) cards from the release including card #330 of Bobby Orr. With most of the cards falling in the scope of GOOD, approximately fifty-six (56) present with a small line of ink on their backs while ten (10) cards have scuffs and the leadoff card of Mike Bossy's Highlights has tape affixed/marks. For the notables, included are 90-Lafleur (FR to G - off-center, corner wear and creased), 115-Bossy RC (VG to VG-EX - corner wear), 143-Federko RC (GOOD - crease at top right), 168-Wilson RC (GOOD - small ink line on back), 319-Sutter RC (G to VG - corner wear) and 353-Taylor RC (GOOD - small ink line on back).
Lastly, for the 1980-81 assembly, sporting 390 of the 396 cards that make up the checklist with most of the cards present falling in the condition ranges of VG-EX to EX and EX, the group is missing those of only 123-Checklist, 162-Dionne/Gretzky/Lafleur Assist Leaders, 163-Dionne/Gretzky/Lafleur Scoring Leaders, 250-Gretzky, 257-Checklist and 396-Checklist for completion. For the notables, present are; 3-Gretzky RB (VG to VG-EX - corner wear), 67-Goulet RC (FR to G - paper loss on top border), 87-Gretzky AS (GOOD - corner wear/dings and crease), 140-Bourque RC (VG-EX to EX - corner wear), 195-Gartner RC (VG to VG-EX - corner wear) and 289-Messier RC (VG to VG-EX - corner and surface wear) while most of the team checklist cards are marked, including the Oilers one picturing Wayne Gretzky on the front, which is badly marked and shows extra ink on the reverse as well.
