Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Two of the greatest players to ever pull on the famed red, white and blue sweater of the Montreal Canadiens during their respective careers, Guy Lafleur and Maurice Richard would help the Habs to a combined total of thirteen (13) Stanley Cup championships. Both having been inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame, offered here is this pairing of cards highlighting the legendary pairing and their sought after signatures. Starting with the Lafleur example that hails from Upper Deck's 2008-09 "Black" release, the "Marks of Obsidian" card featuring an image of Lafleur at the top along with foil accents and an eyebrow raising "1/1" designation at the bottom. Having had a swatch of red coloured twill embedded into the front of the card, the man known as "The Flower" has signed over the material with a thin black marker ink signature that displays well despite some light bleeding. In terms of condition, the raw ungraded specimen reamins in excellent shape with just light wear to the edges and corners worthy of mention when viewed with the naked eye. For the Richard card, released as part of Razor's 2009 Cut Signature Sports Icons Edition release, the card features a crisp blue ballpoint pen ink signature of "The Rocket" that he has signed over the front of a cheque which has then been cut out and embedded into the front of the card. Housed in a Beckett holder that shows some scratches and scuffs, the card, serial numbered "9 of 49" over the Beckett label remains in excellent condition with no wear observed that we can see. Don't miss out on this legendary pairing of signatures for your all-important collection!
