Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Distinguishable by the fact that it was when The Great Depression happened and that it was the last decade of NHL play before the onset of the "Original Six" era, the 1930s saw all but one (1) of the ten (10) Stanley Cups awarded during the decade be won by "Original Six" franchises, with the lone exception coming via the Montreal Maroons in 1935. Also seeing the hockey card industry expand and become closer to what we see today from its tobacco card counterparts of earlier years, offered here is this lot featuring five (5) graded cards from the 1930s that hail from the 1933-34 World Wide Gum Ice Kings V357 and 1939-40 O-Pee-Chee V301-1 sets. Starting with the earlier release, the two cards include are the rookie offerings of Paul Raymond and Pit Lepine that have been graded with marks of GOOD 2 and VG+ 3.5 respectively by PSA. For the O-Pee-Chee's, measuring out to a massive 5" x 7", included are the cards of Rod Lorraine, Jimmy Orlando RC and Alex Shibicky, all of which have been deemed worthy of VG 3 designations for their efforts. With all the PSA holders in excellent condition despite some observed light scratches and scuffs, don't miss out on these pre-war beauties!
