Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024

Originally selected 171st overall by San Jose at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Kevin Labanc has played his entire NHL career with the Sharks thus far, to the tune of 432 National Hockey League contests. A product of the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League and a bronze medalist with Team USA at the 2021 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships, up for grabs here is this San Jose Sharks “Reverse Retro” jersey worn by Labanc during the 2022-23 season. Made by Adidas, a band displaying both size “56” and “Made in Canada” designations sits along the inner collar above a heat screened Sharks team tag denoting the piece as a 2022-23 specimen and below "SJS 1974" plus the reverse retro logo. A design that mimics the jerseys worn by the 1974 California Golden Seals, the front of the white, teal and yellow garment is decorated with “Sharks” in individually sewn on teal-over-yellow tackle twill letters while the crests of both the NHL shield and Adidas adorn the front and back necklines respectively. Accented over both sleeves with Labanc's number “62”, once again done in dual layer teal-over-yellow tackle twill numerals, “Labanc” is spelt out in single layer teal twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the back. Worn during games on November 25th, 2022 vs Los Angeles and December 7th vs Vancouver, the jersey displays just very light game-wear via light stick marks over both sleeves, heaviest on the left one while the right sleeve also sports a small board burn that has resulted in a cut that doesn't completely go through the material. With additional wear via a dark board paint transfer over the reverse right hip and light pilling on the interior, the jersey comes accompanied by a Sharks COA. Regarding a photo-match, the jersey also appears to have been worn for at least a portion of San Jose's December 9th game against Anaheim as the jersey is matched with Getty Image #1245496889 (December 9th, 2022 vs Anaheim) to the board paint transfer over the reverse right hip.
