This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Considered to be the golden age of the National Hockey League and the peak of the Original Six era, offered here is this collection of nine (9) Topps and Parkhurst graded hockey cards that date between 1956 and 1966. Lead by a total of three (3) copies of card #63 from Topps' 1956 Adventure set that is titled "Hockey's Hardy Perennials" and features Gordie Howe of the Detroit Red Wings breaking in on net, the trio have all earned marks of NM 7 from PSA for their efforts. Followed up by 1958-59 Topps cards of Earl Ingarfield (PSA EX-MT 6), Johnny Wilson (PSA VG 3) and Jerry Toppazzini (PSA NM 7), the final three (3) cards making up the group include those of Leo Labine from 1962-63 Parkhurst that has been deemed worthy of a NM-MT 8 designation, a 1963-64 Parkhurst card of Don Simmons that sports the same high-grade mark and finally, a 1966-67 Topps card of Harry Howell that shows a VG 3 label over the top of its holder. With all the holders remaining in good condition throughout despite some light scratches and scuffs being observed, also included with the collection is a McCarthy Hockey Postcard of Terry Sawchuk that dates from being before 1963 based on the two (2) digit zip code on the reverse, the example has been inspected and slabbed by SGC to the tune of an EX+ 5.5 mark while the holder shows some moderate scratches and scuffs over both sides.
