Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Regularly cited in popular culture as the epitome of “old time hockey”, Eddie Shore is arguably the roughest and toughest player in history after Sprague Cleghorn, with his legendary list of career injuries to include 14 broken noses, 5 cracked jaws and over 900 stitches. Shore was also the winner of four Hart Trophies, the only defenseman in NHL history to be so honoured. Offered here, we present this copy of Shore's 1936 Triumph hockey postcard that has earned a mark of PR 1 from PSA after inspection, with a (MK) qualifier also being displayed on the label due to a name that has been stamped over the top of the reverse. Showing additional wear on the back via spots of paper loss and glue residue at all four (4) corners, the PSA holder remains in good condition with some scratches and scuffs observed over both sides. Additionally, also included with the lot is a trio of PSA graded 1939-40 O-Pee-Chee V301-1 cards with the specimens of Ebbie Goodfellow, Phil Watson and Don Deacon present and accounted for. WIth the Goodfellow and Watson examples both sporting grades of VG+ 3.5 over their respective labels, Deacon's oversized card has been deemed worthy of a VG 3. Again, all the holders remain in good condition, showing light scratches/scuffs over both sides of all three (3) examples.
