Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023

The first excessively large gentleman with exceptional hands to grace the NHL, big Jean Beliveau’s tenure with the Habs lasted for two decades, and he was the fourth player to score 500 goals and the second to score 1,000 points in NHL history. Offered here, we present this framed large studio portrait of the legendary HOFer that has also been signed by the man nicknamed "Le Gros Bill" by Canadiens faithful. Measuring 16" x 20" and framed to full dimensions of a 18 1/2" x 22 1/2", the image of Jean is housed in a vintage period correct frame that is both taupe and white in colour with white speckles throughout the taupe portion. With the black and white matte print picturing Beliveau in his Canadiens uniform on the bench at the famed Montreal Forum, the stunning image of the hockey legend shows some wear via light soiling and staining near the bottom worth noting for accuracy. With Beliveau having signed the image over his right arm in crisp blue ballpoint pen, the autograph has been made out to the Calgary Press Club with the notation above the autograph in matching ink reading "Kindest regards to all members of the Calgary Press Club" with the beautiful penmanship dated "May 1960" underneath it all.
