Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The first excessively large gentleman with exceptional hands to grace the NHL, big Jean Beliveau’s tenure with the Habs lasted for two decades, and he was the fourth player to score 500 goals and the second to score 1,000 points in NHL history. Offered here, we present this framed large studio portrait of the legendary HOFer that has also been signed by the man nicknamed "Le Gros Bill" by Canadiens faithful. Measuring 16" x 20" and framed to full dimensions of a 17 1/4" x 21", the image of Jean is housed in an ivory coloured vintage wooden frame that shows light wear from age throughout the sides, edges, reverse and corners. With the black and white matte print picturing Beliveau in his Canadiens captain’s wool jersey, with David Bier embossed along the bottom right, the image shows a couple of creases to make note of for accuracy. With Beliveau having signed the image near the bottom left with a vintage blue ballpoint pen ink signature that displays well and remains fully legible with no loss while the inscription above it reads "A mon amie Jacques, bonne chance".
