Joining an elite list of legendary player who have all donned the prestigious “C” of the Montreal Canadiens, Jean Beliveau was the longest-serving captain in Habs history, leading the team for ten successful seasons which included five Stanley Cup championships. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972 and given the NHL's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009, offered here is this painting owned by the hockey legend. A mountainscape scene done by Emilia Forleni in oil paint on canvas, the artist has signed the bottom right hand corner of the piece in red. Measuring out to approximate dimensions of 24" x 18" and displayed under a cream coloured matte, the piece is housed in an intricate wooden frame that shows wear from age and measures out to full dimensions of 29 1/4" x 24". Presented to the Beliveau's by Sicks' Breweries Limited during their trip to Western Canada, a gold coloured metal plaque reading "Presented To - Mr. & Mrs. J. Beliveau - On The Occasions Of Their Visit To Western Canada - By Sicks' Breweries Limited" has been affixed to the bottom edge of the frame with the screw at the top left having gone missing over the years. Surviving in admirable condition, a puncture hole is seen near the top middle of the canvas while a stain is also observed. Additionally, marks are seen throughout the matting and frame.
