Playing a total of 813 National Hockey League games over the course of his 14-year career, Kjell Samuelsson would suit up in the colours of the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning after being selected 119th overall by the Rangers at the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Playing for his native Sweden at both the 1991 Canada Cup and World Championships, offered here is this Philadelphia Flyers jersey worn by Samuelsson in circa 1987. Made by CCM, a partially sewn over and washed out Maska Airknit tag is affixed to the inner collar while the jersey itself measures out to roughly a size "54" after inspection. Having had an orange, black and white CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem, research shows that the Flyers started wearing this Airknit set with that logo for the 1987 Stanley Cup Playoffs and likely into the 1987-88 pre and regular seasons as well while waiting for their new sets to come in. Decorated over the front with a Flyers logo in layered tackle twill, Samuelsson's number "28" has been sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Samuelsson" has been spelt out in single layer black twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting moderate game-wear in the form of board burns over both sleeves and a light stick mark over the lower front, more stick marks are observed over both sleeves and a blue mark is found through the "8" on the right sleeve. Showing pilling on the interior at the elbows, it is worth pointing out that the fight strap has been removed from the inside, spot stains are present throughout the entirety of the piece and the white areas are a sort of off grey colour.
