From the dawning of an era that would see Wayne Gretzky rack up record upon record while leading the Edmonton Oilers to multiple Stanley Cup triumphs comes his cherished O-Pee-Chee rookie card, prompting a look back at his wizardry. Four 200-plus point seasons, (when the previous record was Esposito’s 152), a 92-goal campaign (shattering Phil's record of 76), 50 goals in 39(!) games and so many other, until that time, unheard of numbers propelled Wayne's coveted rookie card to always-in-demand status, with collectors from all segments of the hobby becoming aware in recent times of the importance of The Great One's RC. Housed in a good condition PSA holder that sports a few scratches and scuffs over both sides worth mentioning for accuracy, comes this copy of Wayne's iconic first-year card that has been deemed worthy of a VG-EX 4 designation after inspection by the company's grading staff. Retaining bold colours and displaying an image on the front that is off-center from left-to-right, the card shows wear to all four (4) corners with the heaviest wear to the points at the top left and bottom. Also presenting with overall clean surfaces on both sides, the card has been enhanced further by the fact that "The Great One" has signed over the front with a thin blue marker ink autograph that displays well, earning a mark of "9" for its effort, with the autograph accented by an "HOF 99" inscription underneath in matching ink. truly spectacular offering, don’t let your all-important vintage collection go without this copy of the hobby’s most famous card.
