Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

What a start to a big-league career it was for big Ken Dryden, the former Cornell star winning his six first regular season NHL starts down the stretch in 1970-71 and then helping the Canadiens to pull off a highly unlikely upset of the record-setting Bruins in the first round of the playoffs....and then backstopping the Habs to series wins over the North Stars and Black Hawks and the Stanley Cup! Playing in a record 20 playoff tilts, Dryden earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. A well-centered Dryden Topps rookie card offered here earned NM-MT 8 status some years ago at PSA, good colours and clean surfaces to go along with the pleasing centering over the front surely help contribute to its high-grade mark while a slight bit of wear to the bottom left corner on the reverse along with its off-centered appearance surely keep it from achieving a higher level of recognition upon inspection. Housed in a PSA holder that shows some scuffs (some of which may be stains that were unable to be removed) and scratches over both sides worth mentioning for accuracy, this special first-year card of one of the best to ever tend the twine in the game of hockey awaits its home in your all-important collection.
