Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

Featuring the top draft pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, a product of the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL, Sidney Crosby would not disappoint the fans and Pittsburgh and more than lived up the expectations bestowed upon him during his freshman season in the National Hockey League, registering 102 points in 81 games played and finishing sixth in league scoring. Having gone on to bring a trio of Stanley Cup championships to the "Steel City", offered here is one of Sid's more treasured rookie offerings in the form of a Signature Patches card from Upper Deck's high-end 2005-06 The Cup release. Featuring "Signature Patches" in rainbow foil at the top left of the card with other accents and the Upper Deck logo done up in the same way, an image of a young Crosby is seen along the right side with the player dubbed "The Next One" having added his signature in crisp blue ink underneath his photo with the autograph displaying without issue. Sporting an eye-popping patch swatch taken from one of Crosby's game-worn Penguins jerseys embedded into the front of the card, a serial number reading "45/75" is seen at the bottom right hand corner. Found in raw ungraded form, the card is seen as being in the grade range of EX-MT to NM in our opinion, with light wear to the corners and edges on both sides and small dings to three of the four corners on the front side worth mentioning for accuracy while the surfaces on both sides remain clean after inspection with the naked eye. For those who would like to own the most important, here is an infrequent chance to score, like Sid, big-time!
