Drafted by the New York Rangers in 1991, Alex Kovalev won a Stanley Cup with the team in 1994, and after numerous seasons in Pittsburgh, returned to the Blueshirts in 2002-03. Compiling a total of 1029 points over the course of his 19-year National Hockey League career in which he spent 9-years in the bright lights of Manhattan and registered 330 points, offered here, we present this stick used by Kovalev as a member of the Rangers during the 1997-98 season. A Busch Itech Balance model, “Kovalev” appears stamped over the upper shaft as well as a factory code that reads "31853". Retaining its original tape job of black cloth over both the handle/knob and blade, the stick displays with light game-use throughout via marks and abrasions over the entire length of the shaft as well as the heel and untaped areas of the blade. Additionally, the blade tape shows puck marks over both sides, a large cut to the backhand side and some wear/small tears to the underside. Hailing from the personal collection of Brian Skrudland, who was a teammate of Kovalev during the season the stick hails from, an LOA signed by him will accompany the piece.
