Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Featuring a steady pipeline of quality goaltending during their dynasty years of the 1980s, the Edmonton Oilers would win a total of five (5) Stanley Cup championships between 1984 and 1990 with an additional Cup Finals trip preceding them in 1983. Backstopped by the likes of Grant Fuhr, Andy Moog and Bill Ranford during that time, offered here is this collection of items celebrating both the Oilers and their trio of Cup winning goalies. Led by a framed photo titled "Keepers of the Cup" that has been signed by all three (3) netminders, the piece, measuring 16" x 20" and framed to full dimensions of roughly 29" x 25", is housed in a black coloured frame with a silver inlay that displays with just light wear to the edges and corners. Displayed under alternating orange and black mattes, all three goalies are pictured with the number of Stanley Cups won by them as a member of the Oilers found underneath. Signed by all three (3) subjects under their respective images with blue marker ink signatures that display without issue, a Pro Am Sports hologram has been affixed to the bottom right and is accompanied by a COA affixed to the back of the frame.
For the rest of the lot, including a full sized rookie replica mask of Fuhr that has been signed by him over the forehead with a blue marker ink signature that displays without issue, the mask measures roughly 10 1/2" tall and is mounted to a black wooden base with the ability to swivel while Oilers logo stickers have been added over both cheeks. Remaining in good condition, light signs of wear are observed over the mask and base. An AJ Sports hologram is also affixed to the inside. Rounding out the lot, is a mid-1980s Oilers game puck that remains in good condition with light wear and signs of age over both sides and an Oilers red coloured practice jersey made by Sandow SK that dates from the early-1980s. Possibly worn by Wayne Gretzky as his line wore red coloured jersey during practices, the garment shows wear via six repairs over the sleeves, some stick marks and burns and cracking to the screened on Oilers logo over the front. A size "XL" offering, the original tags are affixed to the inner collar and "Sandow SK" is screened over the reverse hem. An excellent collection of items for any and all Oilers fans looking to relive the glory years of the 1980s, don't miss out!
