Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/29/2023
A stalwart defender during his playing days, Tom Williams spent 18-years in the minor leagues, mostly in the American Hockey League, including during the 1952-53 season when he helped the Cleveland Barons to a record of 42-20-2 to win the franchise's last regular season title before knocking off the Syracuse Warriors and Pittsburgh Hornets for Cleveland's 6th Calder Cup championship in franchise history. Offered here, we present this wristwatch presented to Williams in commemoration of the victory. Displaying "A.H.L. Champions" over the dial in place of the usually seen numerals, additional verbiage in red reads "Cleveland Barons" and "Calder Cup 1952-53". Engraved with "Tom Williams" on the reverse casing, the gold-tone timepiece is no longer in running condition through the hands do move when the dial is pulled out and used. Showing expected wear throughout from numerous years of wear via scuffs, scratches and loss of the finish in areas, the championship pedigree piece still displays nicely and comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
