Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Considered complete at just 29 cards as the 30th card, the short-printed Sprague Cleghorn is nearly impossible to find, the 1924-25 V130 cards were originally inserted into boxes of Maple Crispette Candy. Returning all 30 cards to the company would get you a pair of skates, and it is safe to say, not many pairs left the company's headquarters. This lot offer a trio of graded cards from the set including one of the most desirable and valuable, Georges Vezina. First, the Vezina is graded GOOD 2 by PSA and is off-centered, with the printing on the reverse weak. Second, we have a card of HOFer Clint Benedict graded POOR 1 by ACA with a few large creases, and lastly, we have a card of Vernon Forbes graded EX 5 by PSA which is off-centered. To own a Vezina in any grade is an accomplishment for any collector.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA or ACA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
