Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Recognized as the official summer sport of Canada, lacrosse can trace its roots back centuries with the indigenous peoples of our country. Offered here, we present this lot of seven (7) Imperial Tobacco lacrosse cards that date back to the early-1910s. Featuring a total of four (4) PSA or SGC graded examples, a 1910 C60 card of B. Hutton is included and has earned a mark of VG-EX 4 for its effort from PSA while Hutton's 1910 C59 example is also present, slabbed with an assessment of VG 3 by PSA. For the final two graded cards, both from Imperial Tobacco's 1912 C61 set, HHOFer Clint Benedict's card has been deemed worthy of a PR 1 with an (MK) qualifier from PSA while fellow HHOFer Joe Cattarinich's card has been given a grade of POOR 1 by SGC. Of note, all the holders remain in good condition but do show light scratches and scuffs worth mentioning for accuracy. For the raw cards, a 1910 C60 example of Cattarinich is featured and in the grade range of FR to GD with multiple creases and wear to the corners and edges while 1910 C59 specimens of Cattarinich and HHOFer Paddy Moran are both seen as being in the scope of VG condition with the Cattarinich sporting creases and the Moran rounded corners and a small crease.
