Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The youngest U.S. born player to reach the 1000-point plateau for their career, Patrick Kane owns a trophy case crammed full of awards including three Stanley Cups, the Conn Smythe, Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophies, the Calder Memorial Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award just to name a few. Hailing from the 2013-14 playoffs, we offer this stick used by the 2007 1st overall pick. A Bauer Vapor APX2 model with “P.Kane #88” graphics over the shaft, Kane’s original white grip is found over the handle and knob while the blade tape has been removed to facilitate a silver ink signature that displays with some wear. Additionally, Kane has added personal touches to the stick with a handwritten “88” on the frontside in black ink and a handwritten “13” on the backside of the handle grip, possibly denoting it as the 13th stick used by the sniper during the postseason, with Getty Image #488289015 (May 4th, 2014 vs Minnesota - WCSF Game 2) showing Kane using a stick that has a number "13" penned to the underside of the grip in a similar style but the image is not clear enough to call a photo-match. Additionally, Getty Image #495182657 (June 1st, 2014 vs Los Angeles - WCF Game 7) show Kane as using sticks with a factory serial number stick that is very close to the one as seen on this stick here. Sporting an aforementioned factory serial number sticker reading "T1413-47173" affixed to the backside of the shaft, telling us that the stick was made during the 13th week of 2014, the stick exhibits light-to-moderate game-use with the heel, blade and lower shaft showing a small number of marks/abrasions while the length of the shaft has been coated with a gripping agent that has since dried and left a residue.
