Drafted 124th overall by Montreal in 1980, Mike McPhee would play 581 of his 744 National Hockey League games wearing the famed bleu, blanc et rouge of Les Canadiens, winning a Stanley Cup with them in 1986. A product of the RPI Engineers, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens jersey worn by McPhee during the period of the late-1980s, circa 1987 to 1989. Made by CCM, a heavily washed out Maska label remains affixed to the inner collar while the jersey itself measures out to roughly a size "50". Decorated over the front with the famed "CH" logo of Les Canadiens, McPhee's number "35" has been sewn over the sleeves and verso in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals while "McPhee" has been spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks are observed over the front, behind the right shoulder and both sleeves while coloured board paint transfers are preset over both sleeves and the reverse. With additional battle scars found via numerous team repairs, totaling twelve (12) by our count, seen throughout the body and sleeves, moderate-to-heavy stains are dotted over the entirety of the body and sleeves as well with the sleeves also showing some darkening to the white areas from repeated wear and many washings. With heavy pilling present throughout the interior and at the collar, the fight strap is heavily salted in the snaps. Additionally, Getty Image #142160121 and #142160166, both of which are undated, appear to show similarities with the jersey being offered to the pulled thread sticking up on McPhee's left shoulder (the one on the jersey being offered is now shorter in length than what is seen in the image) as well as to the placement of the twill layers at the top of the "5" on the left sleeve, particularly to the spacing and downward angle of the blue layer and to the two small white threads that extend into the red shoulder from the left shoulder seam. Despite these, the images are not clear or conclusive enough in our opinion to call them conclusive photo-matches.
