Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
A charter member of the National Hockey League that set up shop way beforehand in 1909, the Montreal Canadiens lay claim to the most Stanley Cup championships in NHL history with a total of twenty-four (24) and have had some of the best players in the history of the game to don their famed bleu, blanc et rouge. Offered here, we present this collection of lumber used by players that have all proudly donned the famous CH emblem of the Montreal Canadiens including Claude Lemieux, Patrice Brisebois, Martin Rucinsky, Benoit Brunet, Ryan Walter and Eric Weinrich. A mix of Sher-Wood (Brisebois, Rucinsky and Brunet), Artis (Lemieux), Koho (Weinrich) and Victoriaville (Walter) models each stick sports the player’s respective name and intact original tape job over the handles/knobs and blades, though most of the blade tape on the Lemieux has been removed. The group all show good game-use via numerous marks and abrasions throughout their entireties and appear to remain structurally sound after inspection though some small cracks are seen to most of the toes with a small crack also observed to the underside of the Lemieux stick's blade. We should further note that these may have been used with teams others than the Canadiens as the Rucinsky is marked on the shaft with a black marker ink "EDM" that is presumably for "Edmonton".
Also including a pair of practice-worn jerseys that date from the mid-1990s and early-2000s that are made by CCM and Pro Player respectively, each has brand and size labeling (56 and 58) affixed to their inner collars and are decorated over the front with tackle twill Canadiens crests. In either maroon or white in colour, the maroon CCM made garment also sports a crest for the brand on the front in layered tackle twill with no player identifiers on the sleeves or reverse while the white Pro Player offering is accented with the number "52" of Craig Rivet over the sleeves and verso with "Rivet" across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer blue twill letters. With the maroon jersey sporting only light wear with evidence of washings present on the interior, the Rivet jersey shows stick marks, board burns and some stains while the Pro Player logos over the front and reverse hem have been covered by extra material.
Finally, to round out the lot, is a 1999-2000 Montreal Juniors jersey worn by Philippe Lepore in the QJHL. Made by CCM and tagged a size "56" over the inner collar, the front is decorated with a Montreal Jr. Canadiens team crest that has embroidered details while the sleeves and verso sport dual layer tackle twill numbers reading "25". With "Lepore" in white vinyl letters over the affixed matching nameplate, with some cracking occuring after photos were done, on the reverse, the jersey shows game wear in the form of stick marks, board burns and coloured paint transfers as well as some spot stains.
