Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Selected 19th overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Francois Leroux would win a Calder Cup in 1993 with the Cape Breton Oilers and go on to play a total of 249 National Hockey League games during the course of his career with Edmonton, Ottawa, Pittsburgh and Colorado. Offered here, we present this Edmonton Oilers jersey donned by Leroux during the 1989-90 season. Made by CCM, a washing instructions tag displaying a handwritten size "54" designation in blue ballpoint pen is affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. A rare mesh construction garment worn by the Oilers only until November or December of their 1989-90 Stanley Cup championship season, the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Oilers team crest in layered tackle twill while the sleeves and verso have been accented with Leroux's number "35" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals. Displaying "Leroux" spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back, the jersey, worn for just a single game during the season, shows just very light wear via a single board burn over the right elbow. Displaying a small stain at the top of front crest, the fight strap on the interior has an IceViolence.com inventory tag affixed still affixed.
