Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Originally organized on behalf of The Phil Esposito Foundation, the "Spirit Returns" game featured multiple players from the iconic 1972 Team Canada hockey roster playing a game against an NHL alumni all-star team coached by Bobby Orr and lead by names such as Gordie Howe, Henri Richard, Andy Bathgate, Eddie Shack, Harry Howell, Rene Robert, Bobby Hull, Dick Duff and others on January 25th, 1985 on the famed ice of Maple Leaf Gardens, the venue in which Canada's lone home ice win was recorded thirteen years prior. Offered here, is this framed program from the event that has been signed by the likes of Team Canada members Paul Henderson, Yvan Cournoyer and Phil Esposito as well as Soviet goaltending legend, Vladislav Tretiak. Measuring roughly 10 1/2" x 16 1/2" and framed to full dimensions of approx. 15 1/4" x 21 1/4" the program has been opened up fully with the fold line still observed in the middle of the piece. Displayed under a black matte and housed in a simple black frame that shows just very light wear throughout, the program/poster displays well and with strong colour while the autographs, signed in a mix of black and blue marker ink show some fading from age, heaviest on the Esposito example. Featuring the autographs of four (4) of the most important men from the famed Summit Series, don't miss out on this one!
Please note that while all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occurs during shipping.
