Playing for the Quebec Nordiques for seven seasons before following the club after they relocated to Colorado, Joe Sakic would play his entire career for 20-year NHL career, winning two Stanley Cups and the 1996 Conn Smythe Trophy. Also crowned the Hart Trophy winner in 2001 and a gold medalist with Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, offered here is this stick used by "Burnaby Joe" during his rookie season of 1988-89 as a member of the Quebec Nordiques. A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model twig, "Sakic 88" is found stamped over the upper shaft. Retaining its original tape job of white (now soiled from use) over the shaved handle and black over the blade, the stick remains structurally sound despite small chips/cracks to the underside of the blade near the toe and in the toe itself, a mostly intact foil accent sticker is present over the area of the lower shaft. WIth factory stamps present on the underside of the lower shaft, including one that is an unreadable date stamp, the stick shows excellent game-use throughout via numerous marks and abrasions throughout the entirety of the shaft with similar wear over the lower shaft and heel. Sporting additional signs of battle via puck marks and small tears over both sides of the blade tape, red and blue coloured board and post paint transfer marks are found throughout the offering as well. Signed by a young Burnaby Joe near the top of the shaft on the forehand side with a blue marker ink signature that displays well despite some fading and light wear from age, don't miss out on this seldom seen offering!
