With 691 wins, Martin Brodeur sits safely at the pinnacle of the all-time wins list of NHL goalie greats. Owning a trophy case that includes a trio of Stanley Cup championships, a Calder Trophy, four (4) Vezina Trophies, five (5) Jennings Trophies and a pair of Olympic gold medals among other things, offered here is this stick used by the king of goaltenders during the 1998-99 season. A Heaton Helite-IV model stick in New Jersey's red, black and white colours, "M. Brodeur" is stamped to the upper shaft, which remains legible despite fading, and is joined by a faded date stamp that reads "16 AVR 1999", indicating that the stick was possibly wielded by Broduer during the 1999 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Retaining its original white tape job over the knob and black wrapped around the blade, the stick exhibits good use via stick marks over both sides of the blade tape and paddle as well as the forehand side of the upper shaft. With "688-2" stamped into the underside of the upper shaft. Additionally, Brodeur has signed the forehand side of the paddle with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue and has added an inscription that reads "A Denis, Bonne Chance" in matching ink.
Originally given by Brodeur to Denis Savard, Savard then gifted the stick to Paul Ruck, the timekeeper in the penalty box at Chicago Stadium, who was a longtime friend of his and along with his father, were longtime staples at Chicago Stadium beginning in the 1960s.
