Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Guarding the crease of the expansion Los Angeles Kings for just 36 games in 1967-68, legendary keeper Terry Sawchuk would then conclude his historic career with single seasons in Detroit and New York respectively before passing away from an accident with teammate Ron Stewart in May of 1970. This stick was used by the icon during his lone season with the Kings. A Northland Pro Glass Fused model with "Sawchuk" stamped to the upper shaft along with Terry's preferred No 12 lie, there are also stamps to each side of the shaft from team supplier W.A. Goodman & Sons. The original black tape is in place over the blade and paddle, with white-over-black to the knob. The stick shows just light game use (there is a small chip to the top edge of the blade, and discolouration along the top of the blade tape), with the blade showing no cracks, with white paint to one side of the shaft and the top, and additional light blue paint to the reverse shaft near the knob. This is the only Sawchuk stick used with the Kings that we have ever offered. An auction LOA will accompany.
